FBI Releases Bank Crime Statistics for First Quarter of 2010
August 4, 2010 During the first quarter of 2010, there were 1,183 reported violations of the Federal Bank Robbery and Incidental Crimes Statue, a decrease from the 1,521 reported violations in the same quarter of 2009.1 According to statistics released today by the FBI, there were 1,160 robberies, 21 burglaries, two larcenies, and three extortions of financial institutions2 reported between January 1, 2010 and March 31, 2010.

InfraGard Presents at Long Island Chapter of Shields Monthly Meeting
December 3, 2009 Special Agents (SA) Maryann Goldman and James Capozzi, InfraGard Coordinators for the Federal Bureau of Investigation, attended a meeting of Shields - Long Island at the Stuart Thomas Manor in Farmingdale, New York on Thursday night to promote the FBI's InfraGard Program. The InfraGard program is a private sector outreach effort geared at protecting the nation’s critical infrastructure and key resources through collaboration with the public. SA Goldman spoke to over 100 members of The Shields, a group which is made up of active and retired law enforcement officers who live and/or work on Long Island.
Fordham Students Test Cyber Security Skills in War Games
August 6, 2009 Computer and information science (CIS) students at Fordham honed their computer defense skills on July 21 and 22 at an electronic cyber security competition held in New York City.
The students, who were called “blue cells,” were assigned to defend computer systems from cyber attacks made by other teams, which were known as “red cells.”
Blue cells received points based on their ability to keep attackers from gaining access to protected databases, obtaining vital information and shutting down defense systems.
